Family Law Paralegal

Ginny Walia Law Offices has proudly served Bay Area clients for over 20 years, focusing on Family Law and Criminal Defense. We are seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to independently manage complex cases in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, proofread, and organize legal documents including petitions, disclosures, declarations, subpoenas, discovery responses, and motions.
  • File documents electronically with California courts and maintain accurate case records.
  • Conduct client intake, gather and analyze financial and case-related information, and assist with discovery responses.
  • Manage attorney calendars, hearings, deadlines, and client communications.
  • Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and witness lists and assist attorneys in trial preparation.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and experts.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical case files using a cloud-based case management system (such as Clio or MyCase).
  • Prepare and review billing entries, engagement letters, and correspondence.
  • Handle sensitive client matters with confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of recent Family Law experience in California.
  • Paralegal Certificate or equivalent qualification under California law (Business & Professions Code §6450).
  • Strong understanding of California Family Code, local rules, and family law court procedures.
  • Proven experience handling contested divorce, custody, child/spousal support, and property division matters.
  • Proficiency with Clio, MyCase, or other cloud-based practice management tools.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently manage cases from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Professional demeanor, reliability, and ability to work well under deadlines.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of guardianship, adoption, or domestic violence restraining order cases.
  • Experience coordinating with process servers and preparing subpoenas.
  • Familiarity with preparing financial disclosures and child/spousal support calculations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
