POSITION SUMMARY
The Family Support Specialist is an integral part of our Family Support and Wellness team located at our Masonic and Hayes Valley Center, serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The Family Support Specialist has an in-depth understanding of the challenges of our families and children, the ability to provide trauma-informed child, individual and family support, and the experience to facilitate a range of community and family support services as needed. We are looking for an individual who can form good working relationships with people, is enthusiastic about supporting the growth and well-being of children and families, and has an open and supportive approach when working with clients.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Collaborate closely with teachers, site supervisors, and other stakeholders to support the social-emotional needs and well-being of the families
Provide parent coaching, care management, crisis intervention and resource referrals for families and individual parents
Partner with families to assess needs, develop goal-oriented action plans, and connect/facilitate them to appropriate community resources and services
Coordinate and facilitate caregiver support groups, parent skill-building groups and parent-child interactive groups
Support the development, practice, and implementation of social-emotional learning (SEL) and literacy practices for families at childcare centers
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of attendance records,client interactions, action plans, progress summaries and any additional reporting documentation
Participate in weekly individual and group supervision with supervisor and team members to discuss client activities, and any relevant issues
Plan and deliver workshops to address challenges faced by our families and strengthen their knowledge of and access to community resources
Assist in organizing and facilitating family engagement events and activities
Stay informed about evolving family dynamics and respond effectively to emerging needs.
COMMITMENT
This is a full-time position requiring a commitment to on-site work four (4) days per week and (1) one remote workday.
The Family Support Specialist will serve our two San Francisco locations: Hayes Valley and Masonic.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Social work, Psychology, Education or related field from an accredited college or university.
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Minimum of two years of experience in providing case management, parent coaching, or family support services for parents and/or families with children 0-5
Minimum of two years of experience working with low-income families in a social service setting
Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to working with families from marginalized communities
Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and the ability to demonstrate and apply them
Knowledge and understanding of parenting challenges, child development, children and families with special needs, including behavioral and emotional issues
Experience with facilitating workshops and trainings
Connection and access to community resources, and skills in developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with community services providers
Demonstrated communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with a dynamic team as well work autonomously with initiative and enthusiasm
Ability to receive, process handle sensitive information in a compassionate and confidential manner
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
Professionalism, punctuality, flexibility and reliability are essential
Able and willing to travel locally for job-related duties as needed
WHAT WE OFFER:
Salary starting at $80,000 - $92,000 annually and increased based on experience, education, and qualifications
