Gratiot County – District Court

Gratiot County is seeking a dedicated and service-driven professional to join our District Court team as a part-time Felony Drug Court Case Manager. This position plays a critical role in supporting participants through structured supervision, treatment coordination, and evidence-based practices designed to reduce recidivism and promote long-term recovery. There is an expectation that services will be provided to inmates in a jail setting.

Position Summary

The Felony Drug Court Case Manager provides intensive supervision and individualized case management to participants enrolled in the Felony Drug Court program. Working within a problem-solving court model, this role collaborates closely with the court team and community partners to support behavioral change, recovery, and public safety.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management & Court Support

  • Provide individualized, evidence-based case management services
  • Facilitate case management with inmates that are being housed within the Gratiot County jail.
  • Develop and implement case plans addressing criminogenic needs and substance use disorders
  • Participate in court staffing meetings and hearings, providing recommendations
  • Apply graduated sanctions and interventions to encourage compliance

Assessments & Monitoring

  • Conduct Impaired Driving Assessments (IDA) and LS/CMI risk assessments
  • Monitor compliance with court-ordered conditions, including drug testing, PBTs, GPS, and check-ins
  • Respond promptly to non-compliance with appropriate interventions

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with treatment providers to ensure appropriate levels of care
  • Communicate effectively with participants, attorneys, law enforcement, and court personnel
  • Serve as liaison with the Prosecutor’s Office and law enforcement when necessary

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation
  • Prepare reports and updates for court review hearings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in criminal justice, social work, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in criminal justice or a related field
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Certifications (or ability to obtain):

  • Impaired Driving Assessment (IDA) Certification
  • LS/CMI Certification
  • LEIN and JIS Training
  • Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)
  • Security Awareness Training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of the criminal justice system and court procedures
  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation practices
  • Proficiency in case management and risk/needs assessment tools
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations and enforce compliance effectively

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve exposure to challenging environments, including interaction with individuals in crisis
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move for extended periods
  • Ability to perform routine office tasks and lift up to 5 pounds
