Fractional Purchasing Manager
Commitment: 2–4 hours per week
Compensation: $50–$85 per hour DOE
Overview
Nevada Fence is seeking a highly skilled Fractional Purchasing Manager, who currently works in the fence industry, to oversee and optimize our purchasing and inventory management functions. This role is designed for an experienced professional who has worked with larger companies and can apply best practices to help us scale more efficiently. You will play a critical role in driving down material costs, strengthening vendor relationships, and ensuring our inventory supports operational needs without unnecessary overhead.
Key Responsibilities
- Vendor Development & Negotiation
- Identify new vendors across markets to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliability.
- Consult on how to negotiate contracts, volume discounts, and shipping terms to maximize cost savings.
- Purchasing Strategy
- Evaluate material requirements and source competitively priced products.
- Instruct on consolidating orders and implement bulk purchasing where appropriate to reduce costs.
- Continuously benchmark prices against market standards to ensure Nevada Fence is receiving best-in-class value.
- Inventory Control & Optimization
- Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages and overstock.
- Implement efficient systems to track material usage, reorder points, and lead times.
- Reduce waste and improve accuracy through structured purchasing and inventory protocols.
- Process Improvement
- Introduce systems and processes used by larger organizations to strengthen efficiency and visibility.
- Work with leadership to standardize purchasing practices and create scalable solutions for future growth.
- Provide insights and reporting on purchasing trends, cost savings, and inventory metrics.
- Collaboration & Oversight
- Partner with our staff charged with purchasing, project managers, estimators, and operations teams to ensure timely and cost-effective material availability.
- Train and guide staff in best practices for requisitioning, tracking, and vendor communication.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or equivalent role, preferably with exposure to larger organizations and multi-vendor environments.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in inventory control systems and purchasing processes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while driving measurable results.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $47,437.31 - $57,128.81 per year
Expected hours: 2 – 4 per week
