NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) is on a mission to make a carbon-free, climate-safe future a reality. We are building the world’s largest plant to produce green ammonia at scale, providing humankind with a cost-efficient solution that will accelerate the worldwide green hydrogen economy. Located in NEOM and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, NGHC will be integrating up to 4GW of onshore solar and wind energy to supply up to 650 tons of green ammonia per day for transportation globally. Operations will go onstream in 2026. JOB DETAILS:

Division: GH2 Operations

REPORTS TO: Ammonia Plant Manager.

LIAISE/COOPERATE WITH: Plant operation staff, maintenance Technicians, Technical Support Teams and contractors.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Ammonia Field Operator role is Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the NH3 production in the field, including field operation of the NH3 production, storage tanks and Ammonia ship loading process.

The incumbent shall operate in accordance with company safety policies and site-specific procedures to ensure reliability, efficiency and productivity goals are met.

Based in Neom, the position reports to NH3 Plant Manager.


NATURE & SCOPE:

The main functions of this position are:


  • SAFETY FIRST, nothing is more important than safety, being fully aligned with all EH&S standards to achieve the goal of zero (0) lost time injuries in the NH3 production unit.
  • Troubleshoot, collaborate with the O&M team, providing support from the field.
  • Perform daily/monthly routines in accordance with operation and maintenance manuals, procedures, safety policies, and site-specific requirements.
  • Candidates will be required to meet training requirements and successfully pass scheduled validation reviews.
  • Actively participate in NGHC safety programs, promote, and enforce safety rules and good housekeeping methods.
  • Build and maintain a good relationship with all customers and stakeholders to ensure close cooperation.
  • Understand the detailed Emergency Response Plan, accept authority in an emergency to take all steps necessary to protect personnel, and ensure safe operation or plant shut down.
  • Take daily process samples.
  • Apply LOTO process on field.
  • Will be responsible of overall housekeeping in the plants.
  • Will work rotating shifts.
  • Will be on call during certain periods of time.
  • Assist in updating operating documents.
  • Strong commitment to team building, integrity, and diversity.
  • Provide shutdown support operation activities on field.
  • Provide training to new field operators.
  • Contribute to maintaining site management systems, e.g.MOC, BPs, SWIMs, JSAs

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Perform safe and efficient field operation of the ammonia production unit, including routine rounds, equipment monitoring, and local adjustments.
  • Maintain housekeeping and ensure safe, accessible walkways and equipment areas.
  • Operate manual valves, local instruments, and equipment in coordination with the DCS operator and Shift Supervisor.
  • Conduct routine field inspections, record readings, and promptly report equipment abnormalities.
  • Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and execute isolations for maintenance activities.
  • Collect process and utility samples as required and communicate deviations to the control room.
  • Support startup, shutdown, and transition activities by executing field tasks according to approved procedures.
  • Monitor storage tank levels, temperature, and pressure; ensure readiness for loading operations.
  • Execute ship (and truck if ever applicable) loading operations, including line-up checks, connection verification, rate monitoring, and documentation.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and product handling protocols during loading activities.
  • Participate in emergency response, drills, and equipment isolations when required.
  • Support permit-to-work issuance, job hazard analysis (JHA) preparation, and field verification prior to issuance.


PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

Will act as a new field operator’s trainer.


SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS:

  • High school diploma in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Candidate must possess a strong safety focus and background.
  • More than 3 years of experience in production plants operation.
  • Experience in handling PFDs, P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams and Shutdown Matrix.
  • Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be willing to be on call.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Experience in work permits and applying the LOTO process is a plus.
  • Proactive, honest, teamwork and hard working
  • Be enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • NH3 operation experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ammonia loading procedures, interlock systems, and (PPE) requirements.
  • Experience operating loading arms, vapor recovery systems, and release emergency shut-off.
  • Basic knowledge of product custody transfer and shipping documentation.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma in a technical discipline and a minimum of 3 years of related plant field operation experience in the industrial gas, chemical, refining and or related industry.
