Field Supervisor

Badlands Tank Lines is the largest crude hauler in the U.S. and is seeking a Field Supervisor for the Williston ND area.

Field Supervisor duties will include, but are not limited to, new driver training and mentoring from onboarding through full independent operation. This includes new driver onboarding, pre-trip and post-trip monitoring, and ensuring all new drivers understand and can successfully demonstrate proper loading and unloading procedures across all site-specific environments.

This role is also responsible for monitoring and coaching drivers on speeding and unsafe driving events, while consistently reinforcing all company safety procedures with both company and owner-operator drivers.

The majority of this position is spent in the field, working one-on-one with drivers, with limited office time. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

In partnership with the Area Manager, this role is responsible for the training, retention, scheduling, and overall management of drivers and equipment, including:

Core Responsibilities:
Driver Training & Development
o Onboarding – Ensure new hires are properly equipped upon arrival (including PPE) and assigned a truck/rig to operate

o Training – Provide hands-on training in crude oil operations, equipment usage, safe driving practices, and company policies

o Retention – Maintain consistent daily communication with drivers. These conversations should not only relay information, but also uncover concerns, strengthen relationships, and reinforce that drivers are valued members of the team. Act as a driver advocate, particularly in matters related to payroll and equipment

oRide-Alongs – Conduct ride-alongs to load sites to review company policies, observe driver performance, and identify training opportunities or procedural concerns

o Pre/Post Trip Monitoring – Observe driver inspections, ensure proper execution and documentation, and communicate any issues to the Service Manager

General

o Assit Dispatch – Partner with Dispatch on priorities, troubleshooting, and resolving loading/unloading issues

o Assist Ticketing – Review ticketing discrepancies and ensure BOLs are accurately submitted to Accounting for billing

o Haul oil as needed to support operational demands

Qualifications

o 5+ years recent crude hauling experience

o Proven ability to train, mentor, and develop drivers in a field environment

o Strong safety mindset with working knowledge of crude oil operations and equipment

o Effective and clear verbal communicator who values relationships and knows how to build and maintain trust

o Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and hold drivers accountable

AdditionalRequirements

o Must have reliable transportation (regular travel to field locations required)

o Proficient with technology, including computer systems, email, and operational tools

o Ability to work independently with a high level of accountability

Location & Travel Expectations

o Preference for candidates based in or near Williston, ND, but not required

o Candidates not local must be willing to work 6–8 weeks away from home at a time

Pay: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
