Field Technician - Communication System (Military Project)
Location: Abu Dhabi office (TIP) / On Site, United Arab Emirates
We are Thales, a global leader in defence, security and aerospace technology. We are looking for a Field Technician to join our Deployment Team on a military communication system renovation project.
Responsibilities
- Install and test hardware components (equipment racks, COTS, radio equipment, RF antenna systems) across multiple sites.
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance of deployed hardware.
- Support logistics and inventory control of deployed assets.
- Install and verify hardware in pre production environments; conduct site pre installation assessments.
- Install and verify/test rack mounted electronics, coaxial, Ethernet and fiber optic cables, and RF antenna systems (masts, mounts and associated hardware).
- Ensure installation complies with safety and industry standards, including grounding and lightning protection.
- Accurately document work performed, including site installation reports and maintenance activities.
- Diagnose and repair hardware equipment when required.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment, tools and consumables; support movement of equipment to/from sites.
- Track equipment lifecycle (installation, maintenance, return, replacement) using asset management tools.
Work Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of hands on experience in military hardware installation or communications infrastructure.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and practices.
Qualification, Certification & Educational Requirements
- Diploma/degree or equivalent experience in Electronics or Communications.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Forklift or material handling equipment certification is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation guides.
- Familiarity with equipment (spectrum analyzers, cable testers, power meters).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working at height and handling heavy equipment.
- Team player with strong customer communication skills.
- Responsive to solicitations.
- Fluent in English; French and Arabic are a plus.
