Finance Administrator – Job Description

Employment Status: Part-time

Location: Downtown Atlanta

Job Summary

This Finance Administrator must have experience supporting an establishment across all aspects of the Balance Sheet and Income Statement, possess sound knowledge of the full monthly, quarterly and annual cycle of accounting processes, have good understanding of and the ability to uphold internal controls, be proactive and able to work independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process and record weekly cash receipts from online, mail-in and in-person collections and other church activities
  • Process payments to vendors & special ministries
  • Record bi-monthly payroll and benefits and quarterly investment activities performed by 3rdparties
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all financial transactions
  • Post entries to the ledger in accordance with GAAP principles
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Reconcile bank, investment and mortgage accounts in the general ledger
  • Maintain and store records either electronically or as hardcopy as needed within the department
  • Maintain financial security by upholding internal controls
  • Prepare correspondence as needed within the department.
  • Maintain fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules. Ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, ensuring their integrity. Make monthly presentations to the Board of Trustees on variances and financial trends
  • Support annual audits
  • Support the Budget Committee with historical data to prepare the annual budget
  • Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks and participate in special projects as may be required from time to time
  • Continuously evaluate, propose and implement best financial practices

Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited university
  • A minimum of 5 yrs. experience in accounting, finance, cash receipts or vendor payments,
  • A minimum of 5 yrs. experience in accounting financial reporting is preferred
  • Experience with church or non-profit accounting preferred

  • Sound judgement
  • High degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint),
  • Use of and/or familiarity with various internet-based functions, systems and software applications e.g. Vanco, banking software, accounting packages
  • Experience with the CDM+ Church Management Tool is a plus
  • Ability to use computers, copiers, phone systems and other office or finance related equipment.
  • Openness to explore new functionality and tools to enhance productivity

Pay: $35,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
