Purpose of job:

To manage business plan process, analyse financial information and prepare financial reports, to determine and maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, budgets and other financial activities within the company.

Reporting To:

Financial Controller

Direct Reports:

Senior Head of Finance

Key Work:

  1. To develop, maintain and analyse budgets and prepare periodic reports comparing plans against actual, identifying variances for management comments and actions.
  2. To prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, amortization and depreciation schedules and other financial reports as necessary.
  3. To analyse financial transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries.
  4. To audit contracts and prepare reports to substantiate transactions prior to settlements.
  5. To develop and produce revenue forecasts, profit and capital expenditure forecasts, ensure the accuracy and timely productions of all costing information are made available for management review and decision making.
  6. To ensure that all accounting systems, programs, processes and reports comply with the international accounting standards.
  7. Review the depreciation rate and life of fixed assets to reflect the actual cost and apportionment of the investment, for correct assessment of present value.
  8. To ensure adequate skills and expertise are available and staff are motivated and coached to meet corporate objectives.

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, i.e., accounting concepts, measurement techniques, and standards of presentation used in financial statements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fund accounting, auditing and reporting requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of laws and administrative policies governing various financial practices

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Accounting
  • 10 to 14 years of relevant experience (Preferred - 5 to 6 years in a management role) (Desirable qualifications – ACCA, CPA, CIMA)
