Under the general supervision of the Financial Aid Director, the Financial Aid Specialist provides technical, administrative, and professional support for the College’s financial aid programs. The position serves as the primary technical resource for financial aid systems and processes, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial aid data and operations. The Financial Aid Specialist engages students in a manner that enhances the student experience while delivering exceptional customer service and support throughout the financial aid process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports and maintains financial aid systems, software applications, and automated processes to ensure the accurate and efficient delivery of financial aid programs. Develops, maintains, and improves electronic financial aid forms, workflows, and automated business processes to increase efficiency and service delivery. Assists with system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, software upgrades, annual aid year setup, and the development of online forms and workflows that improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
Coordinates technical financial aid processes, including the loading of ISIRs, development and maintenance of packaging rules, awarding and packaging aid, loan processing, and related activities. Ensures financial aid processing complies with federal, state, institutional, and regulatory requirements and conducts quality assurance reviews to support program integrity. Assists with reporting, data analysis, audits, and the preparation of information required for institutional, state, and federal agencies.
Maintains the integrity of financial aid data through system monitoring, quality control reviews, and reconciliation activities. Develops, maintains, and distributes financial aid
communications, publications, website content, and other resources to ensure accurate and timely information is available to students and stakeholders while promoting a positive student experience. Provides information and assistance to students, families, faculty, and staff regarding financial aid programs, policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: serving on College committees, supporting departmental operations through process improvement initiatives, maintenance of forms and procedures, participation in special projects, and conducting group information sessions for students and parents, both within the College and throughout the community as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience
Higher education financial aid experience preferred.
