Financial Analyst Position Overview
The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the City’s budget monitoring, variance analysis, and daily financial operations. This role combines analytical work with operational and administrative support to ensure smooth finance department functions.

Perform budget-to-actual monitoring and prepare variance reports

Work with the Finance Director and department heads to understand budget needs and issues

Provide support to other City departments, including budget transfers and other financial requests.

Assist the Controller with reconciliation and other journal adjustments as needed

Maintain the schedule of Finance Department tasks and reporting deadlines

Manage Finance Department personnel scheduling

Sort and distribute incoming departmental mail

Assist with public records requests

Perform other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field

Two (2) to four (4) years of accounting, finance, or budget-related experience

OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Governmental accounting experience

Reconciliation experience (bank, general ledger, or fund-level)

Experience with MUNIS or similar governmental ERP/financial system

Experience with budget-to-actual monitoring and department-level budget support

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools

Familiarity with public records requests and administrative support processes
