One of Vaco's oil and gas clients is looking to add a Financial Analyst to the team due to an internal promotion - this position will be focused exclusively on the expense side of the business working closely with the field operations teams across the United States. Looking for a strong foundation in Excel and traditional corporate budgeting and forecasting. High-level communication is a must.

This is a great "resume-builder" opportunity for a high performing team in a growth environment (very common for folks to rotate across teams and promote upwards - it's rare to see a managerial position because they traditionally promote internally.)

Compensation: $75-90K + Bonus

Day-to-Day

• Support the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning processes
• Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate production, pricing, and cost assumptions
• Analyze variances between actuals, budget, and forecast; provide clear explanations and actionable recommendations
• Partner with operations teams to analyze production volumes, lease operating expenses (LOE), and capital expenditures
• Support economic analysis of drilling programs, well performance, and capital projects
• Provide financial insight into cost optimization and efficiency initiatives
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting packages
• Build dashboards and KPI tracking (production metrics, margins, cash flow, etc.)
• Analyze commodity price impacts (oil, gas, NGLs) on financial performance
• Create and enhance models related to: cash flow forecasting, capital allocation and new capital spend, sensitivity analysis (commodity pricing, production volumes).
• Work with large datasets from ERP and operational systems
• Improve data integrity, reporting automation, and financial processes
• Utilize tools such as Excel, Power BI, and/or SQL for analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• 2-4 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting
• Prior experience in oil & gas or energy industry strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas)
