DYS is seeking a Financial Analyst to oversee fiscal operations. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid background and a passion to habilitate youth.
Specifically, the Financial Analyst will:
Work under general supervision & requires considerable knowledge of accounting systems & procedures in order to examine, &/or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, & conformance to reporting & procedural standards: provide guidance on work related matters & train new employees for the Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS), Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility (CJCF); prepare, compile & verify statistical, financial, accounting or auditing data, reports & tables related to accounts payable & accounts receivable; input payments, approve &/or reject payment requests via the OAKS; prepare invoices, encumbrances, remittances, vouchers, requisitions, time reports &/or inventory; maintain general books of accounts; assist in maintaining general ledgers & in preparing financial statement & reports; examine &/or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, & conformance to reporting & procedural standards; research & analyze transaction errors (e.g., budget, coding, interface) & resolve without external involvement; determine coding for transactions; administer accounts outside of TOS (internal funds); research questionable &/or unauthorized payment card transactions; close out allocations at end of SFY; determine the amount for daily cash draws.
Perform other related duties as required (e.g., perform customer service with internal customer inquiries, prepare routine & confidential material, correspondence, reports & documents by typing, proof reading, making necessary corrections, copying, distributing & filing all related financial documents in accordance with established policies & procedures including maintain a filing system for such materials); deliver incoming mail; attend meetings, trainings &/or conferences relating to financial practices; each Financial Analyst will serve as back up for the same/similar positions; perform other duties as requested.

PRE-SERVICE TRAINING: All final candidates are required to attend 3 weeks of mandatory, paid training at the Correctional Training Academy in Orient, Ohio. This training is fully paid for and will cover lodging, transportation (if needed) and meals. Training takes place for 3 weeks, Monday through Thursday, 7AM to 5PM with Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays off.
