Financial Controller

Position Overview:

The Financial Controller will oversee core accounting operations while supporting financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis. This role combines hands-on bookkeeping and financial reporting with budgeting, modeling, and performance analysis.

This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who is comfortable owning the accounting function while partnering with leadership to drive data-based decisions in a growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Control

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records (general ledger, AP/AR, bank reconciliations)

· Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

· Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)

· Oversee payroll processing and related tax filings

· Manage sales tax compliance and reporting

· Track inventory costs, expenses, and cost of goods sold (COGS)

· Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain internal controls

· Coordinate with external CPA, auditors, and tax professionals

Financial Planning & Analysis

· Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting and forecasting

· Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and variance analyses

· Analyze revenue, margins, operating expenses, and cash flow trends

· Support financial modeling and scenario planning for strategic initiatives

· Partner with operations, sales, and leadership to provide financial insights

· Conduct inventory analysis and margin reporting

· Improve financial reporting processes and systems

· Support ad hoc analysis and executive reporting

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience)

· 2–5 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or similar role

· Strong knowledge of GAAP principles

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, reconciliations, basic modeling)

· Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems)

· Experience with payroll, sales tax, and financial compliance

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· High attention to detail and organizational skills

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

· Strong communication skills with both finance and non-finance teams

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience in manufacturing, hardware, consumer products, or inventory-based businesses

· Experience working in a startup or scaling company

· Familiarity with budgeting tools and financial modeling software

· Experience with cost accounting and inventory management

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
