Responsibilities


The Financial Program Coordinator delivers comprehensive accounting and fiscal support for over $200 million in awards from Triumph Gulf Coast (TGC), ensuring strict financial compliance and adherence to all award terms and conditions. Serving as the primary liaison between TGC and Florida State University (FSU), this role establishes and updates business practices to meet the requirements of both entities.

As a subject matter expert in sponsored project accounting standards, the Financial Program Coordinator promotes FSU’s interests and ensures all financial matters are properly managed. Core responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating expenditures on all TGC contracts and grants to determine allowability and compliance with each award’s terms and conditions.
  • Reviewing and approving all disbursement requests for TGC, maintaining consistency in billing and financial reporting, and monitoring accounts receivable.
  • Overseeing project closeout activities and other assigned financial oversight duties to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex financial regulations. The Financial Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity of TGC-sponsored projects and promoting effective collaboration among FSU departments and TGC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification is required or must be obtained within one year of employment.
  • This position requires successful completion of the eSPEAR certification or the ability to obtain the certification within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in research administration.
  • Experience using PeopleSoft/Oracle.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to review and reconcile financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations, as well as University policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and practices.
