The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Financial Specialist Senior position, located at Green Bay Correctional Institution in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Under the general supervision of the Financial Specialist Program Supervisor, this position is responsible for the accounts payable function at Green Bay Correctional Institution. This position reviews transactions processed for compliance with some pre-audit delegated authority. The position exercises independent judgment in the preparation and processing of a wide variety of complex fiscal documents including daily receipt processing, invoice, direct pay, journals, deposit, and travel vouchers. This position is also responsible for maintaining files related to the institution Canteen payables, and assist in developing and maintaining complete and accurate records for PIOC accounts.
This position is in pay schedule/range 02-13 with a starting pay rate of $26.08/hour and an add-on of $5/hour for all hours worked, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
Applicants will be assessed on relevant experience, including the following:
Modern bookkeeping, purchasing and procurement, policies and procedures, accounting & auditing practices and principles; working knowledge and usage of MS-Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) state accounting systems, and the Internet; ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the public; and identify issues and follow through with problem solving techniques.
A screening questionnaire will determine if candidates are minimally qualified to continue in the selection process.
