Founding Fine Arts Teacher - BASIS Leander (Opening Fall 2026)!

BASIS Charter Schools, a network consistently ranked among the best in the nation for its rigorous academic program, is seeking a highly motivated and engaging Founding Fine Arts Teacher to join the inaugural team at BASIS Leander in Leander, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

The Founding Fine Arts Teacher will be responsible for delivering a dynamic arts program that fosters creativity, expression, and appreciation for the arts. Specific duties include:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach Fine Arts courses in your area of expertise (Art, Theater, or Music) using an engaging, content-rich approach.

  • Student Engagement: Foster a classroom environment that encourages inclusivity and encourages artistic exploration and confidence.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support growth.

  • Founding Team Collaboration: Play a pivotal role in establishing the school's culture, contributing to school-wide initiatives, and collaborating with fellow founding teachers to create a cohesive and supportive academic community.

  • Professional Development: Actively participate in professional learning opportunities and school-wide meetings, continually seeking to improve instructional practices.

  • Student Support: Serve as an advisor or mentor, guiding students in their academic and personal growth within the BASIS model.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major or significant coursework in Fine Arts, Art Education, Music, Theater, or a related field. A Master's degree is highly desirable.

  • Prior teaching experience in Art. Music, or Theater at the middle and/or high school level is strongly preferred. Experience teaching advanced placement (AP) or honors-level courses is a significant asset.

  • A profound passion for the arts and ability to inspire creativity in students.

  • Exceptional classroom management skills and an ability to create an organized, highly focused, and positive learning environment.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • A collaborative spirit and a commitment to working as part of a dynamic, founding team.
