Overview

Roka is seeking a polished, professional, and service-driven Hostess/Host to be the first point of contact for our guests. This role is essential to creating a welcoming and refined first impression while managing reservations, guest flow, and seating with precision and grace. The Hostess sets the tone for the Roka dining experience by delivering warm, attentive hospitality inspired by Japanese service traditions. This position is ideal for individuals who excel in organization, communication, and guest engagement within a fine-dining environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests promptly and warmly upon arrival, maintaining a professional and welcoming presence
  • Manage reservations and walk-in guests efficiently using the restaurant’s reservation system
  • Coordinate guest seating to ensure smooth service flow while balancing server sections and dining room pacing
  • Communicate accurately with servers, management, and kitchen staff regarding guest needs, wait times, and table availability
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the host stand and entry area
  • Monitor dining room activity to anticipate table turns and guest needs
  • Provide accurate wait times and manage guest expectations with professionalism and courtesy
  • Assist with coat check, special guest requests, and accessibility needs as required
  • Support private dining events and special functions with guest coordination and flow
  • Uphold all service standards, company policies, and safety guidelines
  • Attend and actively participate in pre-service meetings, training sessions, and departmental meetings
  • Demonstrate a calm, professional demeanor during high-volume and peak service periods
  • Work collaboratively with the service and management teams to ensure a seamless guest experience

Training Requirements

  • Completion of company in-venue host training
  • Familiarity with reservation and guest management systems (training provided)

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in fine dining, upscale restaurants, hospitality, or hotel environments preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Professional appearance and polished demeanor suitable for a fine-dining environment
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced setting
  • Commitment to exceptional hospitality and guest satisfaction
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to learn Roka’s service standards, menu offerings, and reservation procedures
  • Interest in Japanese hospitality culture is a plus
