Fire Battalion ChiefType: Full TimeSalary/Pay Rate: $66,934 - $83,678 Annually, plus excellent benefitsPosted Date: 03/19/2026 11:20 AMDeadline to Apply: 04/19/2026The Fire Battalion Chief performs difficult protective service and responsible administrative work commanding and participating in fire suppression activities on an assigned shift. Acts as incident commander. Work involves coordinating and communicating regularly with direct reports; participating in and leading training exercises; making equipment purchasing recommendations; assisting with and carrying out personnel matters and disciplinary processes; developing reports; attending meetings; participating in and/or leading projects and events; and responding to emergency incidents to assume or assist with command. Minimum QualificationsAssociate degree in Fire Protection Technology or related field or two years related work experienceValid NC Class B driver’s license or valid out-of-state driver’s license with the ability to obtain a valid NC Class B driver’s license within sixty days of employment and good driving recordTen years of experience in the municipal fire serviceNC Fire Inspection Level II standard certificate or ability to obtain with 24 months3 years as municipal company officerNC or IFSAC/ProBoard Technical Rescuer CertificationNC or IFSAC/ProBoard Technical Rescuer Confined Space rescuer or ability to obtain within 24 monthsNC or IFSAC/ProBoard Technical Rescuer Common Passenger vehicle rescuer or ability to obtain within 24 monthsNC or IFSAC/ProBoard Agricultural rescuer or ability to obtain within 24 monthsNC or IFSAC/ProBoard Hazardous Materials Operations CertificationNC or IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Officer IINC or IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Service Instructor II or ability to obtain within 12 monthsICS 300, 400Work Schedule 24/48 rotating shift schedule.
