Fire Protection Engineer

Project Engineer – Fire Fighting & Fire Alarm Systems

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer – Fire Fighting & Fire Alarm Systems to manage and support fire protection inspection, maintenance, and compliance activities for a major Oil & Gas client in Qatar.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Act as the primary technical focal point for all fire protection systems, including fire extinguishers, AEDs, fire blankets, fire fighting, and fire alarm systems.
  • Plan and oversee monthly inspections for fire extinguishers and AED units, and semi-annual inspections for fire blankets.
  • Manage and execute annual inspection, testing, repair, and maintenance of all client-owned fire protection equipment in full compliance with NFPA, QCDD, and client standards
  • Ensure strict compliance with NFPA, QCDD, QCS, and applicable Oil & Gas HSE standards
  • Liaise effectively with clients, Qatar Civil Defense, consultants, EPC contractors, and operations teams
  • Review inspection findings and ensure immediate removal of any non-compliant equipment, coordinating timely replacement with client safety teams
  • Coordinate the replacement of consumables and components such as extinguishers, extinguishing agents, AED pads, batteries, and fire blankets to maintain continuous operational compliance
  • Supervise required hydrostatic testing, including expellant cartridge testing for cartridge-type extinguishers
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit detailed inspection and maintenance reports within agreed timelines
  • Coordinate site activities, contractor resources, and technical documentation including ITPs, method statements, and maintenance records
  • Support system testing, commissioning, acceptance, and project handover activities
  • Ensure all work activities are performed in line with client procedures and Oil & Gas HSE requirements
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to site teams to ensure high-quality and safe service deliver.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • UPDA & QCDD Certification – Mandatory
  • 8–12 years of experience in Fire Protection Systems within Oil & Gas or industrial facilities
  • Strong hands-on expertise in fire extinguishers, fire pumps, foam systems, deluge systems, sprinklers, and fire alarm systems
  • In-depth knowledge of NFPA standards, QCDD regulations, and international fire safety practices
  • Experience in inspection, maintenance, testing, and compliance management
  • Proven ability to work in operating plants and brownfield environments
  • Excellent coordination, reporting, and client communication skills
  • Must be currently available in Qatar with transferable visa
