Black Gold Transport is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor for our Tok operation supporting a large-scale, 24/7 ore haul fleet. This role oversees maintenance for a mixed fleet including Class 8 highway trucks, side dump trailers, and Caterpillar support equipment. This position is responsible for maximizing mechanical availability, enforcing preventative maintenance intervals, managing parts inventory, and leading shop personnel in one of the most demanding operating environments in Alaska. The ideal candidate understands high-production hauling, extreme cold-weather operations, and the urgency required to keep both on-road trucks and heavy support equipment operational.

Job Title:

Fleet Maintenance Supervisor

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise mechanics and maintenance personnel in a fast-paced, 24/7 operation
• Oversee preventative maintenance scheduling for Class 8 trucks (Kenworth platforms preferred), side dump trailers and air systems, CAT loaders, graders, and other support equipment.
• Manage and control parts inventory, including forecasting, stocking critical spares, and minimizing downtime due to parts shortages
• Monitor maintenance data, downtime trends, repeat failures, and implement corrective actions
• Coordinate daily with Operations and Dispatch
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, MSHA, safety standards, and company policies
• Maintain accurate maintenance records
• Provide hands-on mechanical support when necessary
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proven leadership experience in a heavy truck and/or heavy equipment maintenance environment
• Strong diesel diagnostic and repair knowledge (Class 8 trucks required)
• Working knowledge of CAT heavy equipment systems
• Experience managing preventative maintenance intervals across mixed fleets
• Experience overseeing parts inventory
• The ability to work in various environments, indoors and outdoors, often in extreme weather conditions
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and squatting
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift 50 pounds.

Experience/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, vocational or technical school preferred
• 5+ years of diesel or heavy equipment experience
• Supervisory experience strongly preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Must have a current DOT medical card, or the ability to obtain one, as the position requires the operation of company vehicles and equipment
