Carter Electric Inc. is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and driven Fleet Manager to join our team.

Primary Purpose of Role:

The Fleet Manager serves as the operational quarterback for Carter Electric’s fleet and supports our warehouse operations. This role is responsible for ensuring fleet reliability, minimizing downtime, maintaining compliance, and supporting field productivity through decisive action and strong communication.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, and takes ownership of issues from identification through resolution.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and optimize fleet operations including vehicles, trailers, and heavy/light equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of servicing, inspections, compliance, and repairs.
  • Triage and coordinate maintenance and repair activities with vendors or internal personnel.
  • Ensure timely communication with project managers and leadership regarding fleet status and impact to operations.
  • Supervise logistics associates and fleet mechanic to ensure clear direction and accountability.
  • Enforce company policies, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proactively identify risks to fleet availability and develop mitigation strategies.

Operational Expectations:

  • Respond to fleet-related issues and communication in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clear and visible system for tracking active fleet action items.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in prioritizing repairs based on operational impact and cost.
  • Lead by example in professionalism, team collaboration, and accountability.
  • Communicate early and often — silence is not acceptable when assets are at risk.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Manage vehicle licensure, insurance, registration, and documentation.
  • Develop strategies to reduce fleet costs while improving uptime.
  • Maintain and strengthen vendor relationships.
  • Monitor driver and operator adherence to company vehicle policies.
  • Provide regular reporting to leadership on fleet status and budgeting.
  • Assist with minor field repairs when necessary.
  • Utilize GPS and fleet tracking systems to support operational oversight.
  • Train drivers and operators on company fleet standards and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience managing fleet or logistics operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to set expectations and hold team members accountable.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active priorities.
  • High mechanical aptitude for light-duty trucks, vans, and heavy equipment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and fleet management software systems.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and follow through to completion.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred but not required.

Experience:

Minimum two years of experience in fleet, logistics, or warehouse management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
