Fleet Supervisor (Workshop)

Job Summary

The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and availability of company vehicles and equipment. This role ensures that the fleet is safe, reliable, cost-effective, and compliant with company policies and legal requirements. The Fleet Supervisor coordinates workshop activities, supervises mechanics, and minimizes vehicle downtime to support contracting operations.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Workshop Management

  • Supervise daily workshop operations and fleet maintenance activities
  • Schedule preventive and corrective maintenance for vehicles and equipment
  • Ensure vehicles are roadworthy, safe, and compliant with regulations
  • Monitor vehicle breakdowns and ensure timely repairs

Team Supervision

  • Supervise mechanics, technicians, and workshop staff
  • Assign work tasks and monitor job quality and productivity
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to staff
  • Enforce safety rules and workshop discipline

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify faults or service needs
  • Approve repair methods and ensure quality workmanship
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers when required
  • Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and spare parts usage

Inventory & Cost Control

  • Manage spare parts inventory and workshop tools
  • Monitor maintenance costs and help control repair expenses
  • Prepare maintenance reports and breakdown analysis
  • Recommend cost-saving and efficiency improvements

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and legal requirements
  • Enforce proper use of PPE and safe working practices
  • Ensure environmental standards (waste oil disposal, cleanliness) are followed

Reporting & Coordination

  • Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly fleet and workshop reports
  • Coordinate with operations and project teams
  • Report major breakdowns, accidents, or delays to management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or certificate in Automotive Technology, or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in fleet or workshop supervision
  • Experience in contracting, construction, or heavy equipment fleets preferred
  • Valid driving license (light/heavy vehicle preferred)
