Job Summary:
The Purchasing & Sanitation Associate oversees the procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of food and supplies in compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and Joint Commission requirements. This role ensures safe, sanitary, and cost-effective food service operations that support patient, staff, and visitor needs while maintaining accurate inventory and financial accountability. Responsibilities include purchasing within approved contracts, inspecting deliveries, rotating stock, and conducting audits. The position also supports catering, community meal programs, and departmental functions, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and service execution. In addition, the associate performs sanitation duties in line with OSHA, state health codes, and hospital safety policies, maintaining thorough documentation and hazard-free work areas. Professional, courteous service and adherence to patient-centered care principles are expected in all interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 3 years in the hospitality field preferred. 2 years in a healthcare environment preferred.
Licenses, Certification and/or Registrations: Serv-safe certification preferred
Equipment, Tools, Work Aids: Computer, various kitchen equipment
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: US Foodservice computerized order/inventory system knowledge preferred, Excel and Word
