Food Safety and Hygiene Officer

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

We are looking for a Food Safety & Hygiene Officer for our restaurant group, he will be responsible for ensuring that all food production, handling, storage, and distribution processes comply with local food safety regulations and company hygiene standards. This role involves monitoring hygiene practices, conducting audits, training staff, and implementing corrective actions to maintain high food safety standards across all operational areas.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Safety Monitoring:

  • Monitor food handling, preparation, and storage processes to ensure compliance with food safety standards (FSSAI, HACCP, ISO 22000, etc.).
  • Conduct routine inspections of kitchens, storage rooms, and delivery vehicles.
  • Ensure temperature control and monitoring systems are functioning and recorded as required.

2. Hygiene Management:

  • Supervise cleanliness and sanitation of kitchens, utensils, equipment, uniforms, and premises.
  • Check personal hygiene of staff and enforce grooming standards.
  • Monitor pest control measures and waste disposal processes.

3. Delivery Coordination:

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily dispatches to branches.
  • Assign delivery orders to drivers and track delivery timelines.
  • Monitor delivery routes and suggest optimizations to minimize delays and reduce fuel costs.
  • Communicate with branch managers regarding delivery schedules, changes, or issues.
  • Ensure proper packaging and loading of food to prevent damage or spoilage in transit.

4. Storage & Inventory Management:

  • Oversee receiving, unloading, and proper storage of raw materials and finished food products.
  • Ensure stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO) is followed strictly to minimize waste.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and conduct regular physical stock checks.
  • Monitor temperature and hygiene conditions of storage areas (cold storage, dry storage, etc.).
  • Coordinate with procurement and production teams for inventory requirements and replenishment.

5. Incident Management & Reporting:

  • Investigate food safety complaints, non-conformities, and hygiene issues.
  • Report hazards or violations and initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure traceability of raw materials and finished goods in case of product recalls or food safety issues.

Qualification & Skills

  • Experience in food & beverage or restaurant industry preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, FSSAI guidelines).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel or inventory management software is a plus.
  • Valid UAE driving License is mandatory
