Food Safety and Hygiene Officer ensures compliance with local health regulations and international standards (HACCP/ISO) across food service operations. Key duties include conducting daily kitchen inspections, monitoring food handling, managing pest control/waste, and providing staff training. Requirements typically include a Bachelor’s in Food Science/Microbiology and relevant safety certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Inspection: Perform daily inspections of kitchens, food preparation areas, and storage to ensure adherence to Qatari health regulations.
- HACCP & Quality Management: Develop and manage Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs, monitoring temperature logs, and ensuring proper food storage (FIFO).
- Training & Education: Deliver training programs on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and personal hygiene to kitchen staff.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate food safety complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions (CAPA).
- Auditing: Audit suppliers and external contractors (e.g., pest control) for hygiene compliance.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, Public Health, or related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in food safety, ideally within hospitality or industrial catering in the Middle East.
- Certification: Mandatory HACCP Level 3 or 4, and Food Safety Manager certification (e.g., ServSafe).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of Qatar Municipality regulations and food safety standards.
- Communication: Excellent English skills for reporting; Arabic is often preferred.
