Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Supervision:
    Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Engine Mechanics and Technicians, assigning daily tasks and ensuring the efficient use of manpower and resources.
    Conduct daily toolbox meetings to brief the team on the job scope, safety procedures, and specific work instructions.
    Monitor the progress of all assigned jobs, ensuring they are completed within the given timelines and budget.
    Provide hands-on technical guidance and support to the team, and act as a role model for a positive and professional work attitude.
    Be involved in the performance appraisal and counseling process for subordinates as needed.
  • Technical Execution and Quality Control:
    Perform and oversee the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and overhaul of slow, medium, and high-speed diesel and gas engines (2-stroke and 4-stroke).
    Ensure all work, including engine alignment and reconditioning, is carried out in strict accordance with the manufacturer's manuals, drawings, and Goltens' quality standards.
    Conduct thorough inspections of all work to ensure it meets quality benchmarks and minimizes reworks and customer complaints.
    Generate a spare parts list and ensure the timely submission of material requisitions for each job.
  • Project Management and Administration:
    Prepare for each job by reviewing technical information, creating a detailed work plan, and a schedule (e.g., Gantt chart).
    Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Sales, Planning, and Stores) to ensure all tools, tackles, and parts are available as per the schedule.
    Control the cost of each job by meticulously tracking man-hours, materials, and vendor costs against the budget.
    Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports, including timesheets, service reports with photos, formal investigation reports, and repair proposals for clients.
    Liaise with the client, sales representatives, and classification societies as required to provide timely updates and manage expectations.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Prioritize and enforce strict adherence to all company, client, and maritime safety, health, and environmental policies.
    Prepare and conduct risk assessments and checklists for every job to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
    Ensure all testing and monitoring equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working order.
    Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness at all work locations, both in the workshop and on-site.
