Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Supervision:
    Lead and manage a team of fabricators, fitters, and welders, assigning tasks and overseeing daily operations.
    Conduct daily toolbox talks to brief the team on project scope, safety procedures, and quality expectations.
    Mentor and train junior team members to enhance their skills in fabrication, fitting, and welding.
    Ensure all team members adhere to company policies, work instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Technical Execution and Quality Control:
    Interpret and execute complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for structural steel and piping fabrication projects.
    Oversee and perform hands-on fabrication, cutting, bending, fitting, and welding tasks as required to ensure project timelines and quality.
    Ensure that all fabrication work, including welding, is carried out in accordance with relevant international standards (e.g., AWS, ASME) and classification society rules (e.g., DNVGL, ABS, LR).
    Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and finished products to ensure they meet the highest quality standards and minimize defects or reworks.
  • Project Management and Coordination:
    Plan and schedule fabrication activities to meet project deadlines, effectively allocating manpower and resources.
    Coordinate with the project manager and other departments (e.g., Engineering, Procurement) to ensure the timely availability of materials, drawings, and equipment.
    Track project progress, man-hours, and material usage, providing regular reports to the Workshop Manager.
    Anticipate and resolve any technical or logistical issues that may arise during the fabrication process.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing all company and client safety regulations.
    Conduct risk assessments for each job and implement appropriate control measures.
    Maintain all tools, machinery, and equipment in good working order and ensure a high standard of housekeeping in the workshop and on-site.
    Ensure all necessary permits and certifications are in place for welding and other high-risk activities.
