Freight broker

Job Summary

The Freight Broker is responsible for coordinating and managing the transportation of goods by connecting shippers with reliable carriers. This role focuses on negotiating rates, ensuring timely delivery, maintaining strong relationships, and resolving any issues that arise during transit.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and secure freight from shippers and match loads with qualified carriers
• Negotiate rates, contracts, and terms with carriers and customers
• Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules to ensure on-time transportation
• Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delays, damages, or service issues
• Maintain accurate records of shipments, contracts, and payments
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with carriers and customers
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company regulations
• Track market trends, capacity, and pricing to remain competitive

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation (preferred)
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Proficiency in TMS software, load boards, and Microsoft Office
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
