Freight Dispatcher

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Freight Dispatcher to join our logistics team. In this vital role, you will coordinate and manage freight shipments, ensuring timely and efficient transportation of goods across various routes. Your expertise in transportation management systems, GPS technology, and supply chain logistics will drive operational excellence. As a Freight Dispatcher, you will serve as the communication hub between carriers, drivers, and clients, maintaining smooth dispatch operations and fostering strong relationships. Duties

• Coordinate daily freight dispatch activities using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to assign shipments to carriers and drivers effectively.
• Monitor GPS tracking systems to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure on-time deliveries.
• Communicate with drivers, carriers, and clients via multi-line phone systems while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and professional communication skills.
• Manage shipping and receiving schedules, ensuring accurate data entry into AS400 or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools for route analysis, transportation planning, and logistics optimization.
• Oversee freight documentation, including manifests, bills of lading, and shipping instructions, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with supply chain teams to analyze transportation data for continuous improvement in freight efficiency and fleet management.
• Support logistics operations by coordinating with 3PL providers (third-party logistics), managing freight loads, and resolving issues promptly.
• Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, shipment statuses, and incident reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
• Provide exceptional customer service through clear communication regarding shipment statuses or delays.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.
• Strong knowledge of GPS technology, GIS tools, and transportation planning principles.
• Familiarity with logistics operations including shipping & receiving, fleet management, and freight coordination.
• Excellent analysis skills to interpret transportation data for process improvements.
• Proficiency in data entry using AS400 or similar ERP platforms; typing speed is essential for efficiency.
• Experience in dispatching within a 3PL environment or supply chain setting preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally; good phone etiquette is a must.
• Knowledge of shipping regulations and documentation requirements such as bills of lading and manifests.

Pay: $27,802.00 - $123,846.00 per year
