Freight Dispatcher

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Magnum is hiring a Dispatcher to support daily transportation operations by coordinating drivers, equipment, and freight to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time deliveries. This role plays a key part in driver utilization, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do
As a Dispatcher, you will help manage daily operations and ensure freight moves efficiently through the network.

• Coordinate and dispatch drivers, trucks, and equipment to maximize productivity and service levels
• Communicate with drivers and assign loads based on customer needs and operational priorities
• Enter and maintain accurate load and shipment information in the system
• Monitor and review driver logs and bills of lading to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Ensure compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), FMCSA regulations, and company policies
• Process and audit driver payroll and trip data
• Communicate proactively with customers and internal teams regarding delays, issues, or updates
• Submit required documentation to Billing for accurate invoicing
• Participate in operational and safety meetings
• Provide constructive feedback and coaching to drivers as needed
• Assist with projects and perform additional duties to support operations

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional with experience in transportation operations and dispatch. Ideal candidates have:

• Experience in truckload, local, intermodal, cartage, or brokerage operations
• Strong understanding of transportation processes, dispatch terminology, and logistics workflows
• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, CSA principles, and compliance requirements
• Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) such as TruckMate (TMW) or TMW Suite (preferred)
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with drivers and customers via phone, email, and messaging
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities and schedules
• Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management skills
• Knowledge of the local metro area and Midwest region for effective route planning
• Goal-oriented mindset with the ability to meet performance and productivity targets
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associate degree (or higher) preferred, ideally in Business, Logistics, or a related field
• Prior experience in the transportation or logistics industry preferred

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position is performed in an office or operations environment, where employees work with computers, phones, and transportation systems throughout the day. The role requires extended periods of sitting or standing, along with continuous use of communication tools to coordinate with drivers, customers, and internal teams. Employees must be able to maintain focus and accuracy in a fast-paced setting, with occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs and the ability to travel as needed.
