French-immersion infant and toddler teacher

Le Soleil French School for Children teachers assist in preparing lessons for children, maintaining their hygiene, monitoring their health, behavioral, and emotional concerns, providing children with age-appropriate instruction and working with families to ensure their child is learning and socializing in a positive way. They also assist with sterilizing toys and play areas and other duties to ensure that children are in a safe, engaging, and clean environment.

Responsibilities:

● Care for young children between 0 and 3 years of age

● Provide a warm atmosphere with thoughtful praise

● Change diapers and child clothing regularly

● Prepare healthy snacks for children

● Bring children safely to outdoor play areas

● Communicate with guardians regularly

● Take notes of observed behaviors and use them to assess development

● Use assessments to plan for future interactions with specific children or groups

● Wash dishes, dust, sweep, mop, and organize common areas and restrooms

● Use proper personal protective equipment, like vinyl gloves, as needed

● Attend regular meetings to prepare lesson plans and discuss progress

● Maintain open communication with the director, families, and co-teachers

● Work with all stakeholders to help children meet learning goals and developmental milestones

● Complete recommended and required training hours regularly

Qualifications:

● High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

● Must speak French

● 1 year experience as a teacher and/or child care professional preferred

● At least 18 years of age required

● Must be able to pass a background check prior to start date

● Must have reliable transportation to arrive on time

● Exceptional communication, teaching and interpersonal skills

● Strong understanding of the different stages of childhood development

● Attentive to the needs and safety of children

● Patience and stamina to monitor, teach and chase after, lift or carry children
