Job Title: Fuel Procurement Specialist

Status: Full Time Exempt

Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 4:30, on-call evenings and weekends

Supervisor: Director Of Operations

Location: San Luis Obispo

Pay Range: $70,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience

Job Summary: We’re looking for a results-driven, responsible individual with a continuous improvement mindset to fill our fuel procurement role. The desired individual will be a fast learner, have advanced Excel experience, have natural problem-solving skills and be curious in nature. This role is responsible for fuel procurement for all of JB Dewar’s sites and for procuring truckloads of fuel for over 100 of our customers, coordinating an average of 10 trucks of fuel daily to ensure that our sites do not run out of fuel and that our customers get the fuel they need.

Essential Skills & Responsibilities:

· Research and monitor fuel market trends and prices

· Assess supplier performance and reliability

· Coordinate with the logistics team to schedule and oversee fuel deliveries

· Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and environmental policies

· Maintain accurate records of fuel transactions and inventories

· Develop and manage relationships with fuel suppliers and carriers

· Analyze fuel consumption patterns and forecast future fuel needs

· Prepare regular reports on fuel purchases

· Work with the finance department to manage payment processes for fuel purchases and to ensure we have adequate credit with suppliers

· Participate in cross-functional teams to address fuel-related issues

· Interact with customers to fulfill their needs

· Must be able to become familiar with in-house computer system

Skills & Qualifications:

· Experience in fuel procurement or supply chain management

· Strong negotiation and contract management skills

· Knowledge of fuel market trends and pricing

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Experience with inventory management software

· Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple high priorities simultaneously

· Understanding of environmental and regulatory requirements related to fuel procurement

· Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field, desired but not required

· 2-4 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, required

· Advanced in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

· Ability to analyze large amounts of data and make informed decisions

· Knowledge of fuel types and their industrial applications

· Understanding of financial principles related to budgeting and cost management

· Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in commodities purchasing

· Past experience in logistics

· Possess strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)

· Must type at least 30 wpm

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Essential Physical Functions:

· Frequent standing, sitting, bending, lifting, hand and finger movements associated with typing, 10 key and telephone operations.

· Near, mid, and far vision
