Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Full Time Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, with expertise in chairside support, patient care, and administrative coordination. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners are ready for use.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
- Provide excellent patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures when necessary and ensure all clinical activities adhere to established protocols for anatomy knowledge and infection prevention.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required, with familiarity in general dentistry practices being essential.
- Proficiency with dental assisting tasks such as chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and managing dental terminology is necessary.
- Experience using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is advantageous.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures is critical for maintaining compliance with health standards.
- Background in pediatric dentistry or experience working with pediatric patients is desirable to effectively support young patients’ needs.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and the ability to handle medical records accurately is essential.
