General Accountant

Position Title: General Accountant
Location: Qatar
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reporting Line: Finance Manager / Accounts Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced General Accountant with strong expertise in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and proven professional experience in the Qatar market. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, maintaining effective financial controls, and supporting financial reporting in compliance with Qatar regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Record daily financial transactions, including journal entries, expenses, income, and accruals.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Perform bank, cash, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial records.

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Process supplier invoices and verify accuracy against contracts, LPOs, and supporting documents.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers.
  • Maintain supplier accounts and conduct periodic reconciliations.
  • Prepare payment schedules and support cash flow planning.
  • Coordinate with procurement and operations departments regarding invoice verification and payment issues.

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Prepare and issue customer invoices for facility management services, including maintenance, cleaning, AMC, and projects.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with clients to ensure timely collections.
  • Maintain customer account statements and aging reports.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with operations and sales teams to ensure accurate and timely billing.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial statements.
  • Monitor expenses and budgets and identify variances.
  • Support financial analysis to assist management decision-making.
  • Assist in internal and external audit processes.

Compliance and Regulatory Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with Qatar financial regulations and company policies.
  • Support corporate tax and statutory compliance requirements, where applicable.
  • Maintain proper financial records for audit and regulatory purposes.

Facility Management and Contract Accounting

  • Manage accounting related to maintenance contracts, AMC agreements, and service projects.
  • Track project costs and profitability.
  • Ensure accurate allocation of costs across departments and projects.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, CMA, or CPA are an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 to 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 to 5 years in Qatar.
  • Proven hands-on experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Experience in facility management, contracting, construction, or service industries is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Qatar market practices, financial procedures, and client/vendor management.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Odoo, or similar systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong ability to prepare reconciliations, aging reports, and cash flow statements.

  • Immediate availability or short notice period is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to QAR5,500.00 per month
