The General Accounting Officer is responsible for managing both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions, timely processing of invoices and payments, and proper maintenance of accounting records. The role supports the finance department in maintaining healthy cash flow and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on time
- Record customer payments (cash, bank transfers, and other payment methods)
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on overdue balances
- Maintain updated records of receivables and customer statements
- Assist in preparing aging reports and collections reports
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Process supplier invoices and verify accuracy against purchase orders or contracts
- Prepare payment vouchers and ensure timely payments to vendors and service providers
- Maintain records of all company expenses and liabilities
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Coordinate with management for payment approvals
- Perform daily posting of financial transactions into the accounting system
- Assist in bank reconciliation and cash reconciliation
- Maintain proper filing of accounting documents (invoices, receipts, payment proofs)
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Assist in preparing financial reports as required by management
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping
- Strong knowledge of AR and AP processes
- Good understanding of accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ERP systems, Excel)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and organizational skills
- At least 1 year experience in Qatar in related field
