General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for personal injury firm

Job Overview
The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our organization adheres to legal standards and internal policies. This position is responsible for overseeing compliance across various legal domains, including but not limited to estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, and securities law. The CCO will develop compliance programs, conduct audits, and provide training to staff to foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

Duties

  • Develop and implement comprehensive compliance programs that align with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and assess the organization's adherence to legal standards in areas such as family law, landlord-tenant law, workers' compensation law, and personal injury law.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to stay updated on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements while ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with various departments to provide guidance on compliance-related issues and best practices.
  • Oversee litigation processes and ensure that all legal documents are accurately drafted and filed.
  • Provide training sessions for employees on compliance matters, including environmental regulations and tribal laws.
  • Maintain detailed records of compliance activities and prepare reports for senior management.

Experience
Candidates should possess a robust background in legal practice with experience in multiple areas of law. SPECIALLY PERSONAL INJURY

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in legal drafting, research, and administrative functions within a law office setting.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful contract management.
  • Familiarity with litigation processes and the ability to manage complex legal issues effectively.
  • Excellent writing skills to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
  • A strong understanding of various laws including patent law, tribal regulations, and environmental legislation. This role requires a proactive approach to compliance management along with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,678.95 - $121,247.77 per year

  • General counsel: 3 years (Preferred)
  • State bar matters: 3 years (Preferred)

  • Legal ethics: 2 years (Preferred)
