The General Manager – Construction is responsible for leading and managing all construction activities across development projects, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments. The role involves strategic planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of projects within defined timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The GM Construction ensures optimal utilization of resources, effective stakeholder coordination, and adherence to regulatory and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:1. Project Planning & Execution
- Lead end-to-end construction planning, execution, and delivery of projects.
- Develop project timelines, milestones, and resource plans.
- Ensure projects are completed within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
2. Cost & Budget Management
- Prepare and monitor project budgets and cost forecasts.
- Control construction costs through effective planning and procurement strategies.
- Approve material requisitions and monitor cost efficiency across projects.
3. Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure all construction activities meet defined quality standards and specifications.
- Implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local building regulations, safety standards, and company SOPs.
4. Resource & Material Management
- Optimize utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
- Oversee procurement planning and inventory control.
- Ensure timely availability of materials and equipment at project sites.
5. Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, architects, and internal departments.
- Maintain strong follow-up with stakeholders to resolve project issues.
- Represent the company in meetings with external stakeholders and authorities.
6. Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage project managers, engineers, and site teams.
- Foster a high-performance, result-oriented team culture.
- Ensure clear delegation of responsibilities and accountability.
7. Monitoring & Reporting
- Track project progress and prepare regular reports for senior management.
- Identify risks, delays, and bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting systems are maintained.
8. Risk & Safety Management
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure implementation of safety standards and safe working practices on site.
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance across all projects.
Job Specification:Education:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory). Master’s degree in Construction Management will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 12–15 years of relevant experience in building construction projects.
- Proven experience in real estate development projects (housing societies, high-rise, commercial buildings).
- At least 5+ years in a senior management or leadership role.
