General Manager of Operations

Description:


Our client Tru Fabrics (Tru Group) is hiring GM – Operations in Narayanganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh from Multan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi.


Industry: Textile – Woven Dyeing, Printing & Finishing (Export Oriented)


Location: Narayanganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Reporting To: Managing Director / Board of Directors

Relocation is required from Multan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi

Direct Reports: AGM Operations, Production Managers, QA Head, IE Head, PPC Head, Maintenance & Utilities. Manpower Leadership: 500+


Role Purpose


The GM – Operations is the single-point owner of factory operational performance, responsible for end-to-end mill operations: Dyeing, Printing, Finishing, Utilities, ETP, QA, and Warehouse. The role requires hands-on leadership in complex troubleshooting, systematic documentation of problems and solutions, and training managers to ensure global buyer standards are met consistently.



Experience & Qualifications


  • Education: B.Sc / M.Sc in Textile Engineering (Wet Processing preferred).
  • Experience: 20–25+ years in textile manufacturing (Woven Dyeing, Printing & Finishing).
  • Leadership: Minimum 5 years as GM / Factory Head / DGM Operations in large-scale export mills.
  • Technical Expertise: * Reactive, pigment & disperse dyeing; Rotary & digital printing.
  • Finishing, sanforizing, heat setting, peaching.
  • Hands-on experience with European machinery (Monforts, Benninger, Goller, Kuster, Osthoff, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of ETP, ZDHC, MRSL & sustainability compliance.


Core KPIs


  • Capacity utilization (85-90%)
  • On-time shipment performance (OTIF ≥98%)
  • Right-First-Time (RFT%) and Rejection/Reprocessing rates
  • Processing cost per yard and utility consumption benchmarks
  • Audit scores and compliance performance

Responsibilities:

Strategic & Factory Leadership


  • Lead entire factory operations independently and translate Board/MD strategy into execution plans.
  • Drive capacity utilization ≥85–90% and establish KPI-based review systems.
  • Implement lean manufacturing, TPM, 5S, SMED, and digital reporting systems.
  • Act as the final operational authority during crises and lead buyer technical meetings.


Production Planning, Control & Execution


  • Own annual and monthly production planning to meet shipment schedules with optimum efficiency.
  • Optimize machine loading, batch size, and manpower to ensure ≥98% on-time shipment (OTIF)
  • Improve Right First Time (RFT), reduce reprocessing, shade variation, and wastage.
  • Control WIP, bottlenecks, and machine downtime.


Cost, Yield & Utility Control


  • Control conversion cost and processing cost per yard/meter through process optimization.
  • Utility Optimization: Optimize steam, gas, electricity, water, and chemical consumption.
  • Improve ETP performance and reduce environmental cost impact.
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting and variance control.


Quality, Compliance & Buyer Confidence


  • Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with buyer requirements (H&M, Inditex, PVH, NEXT, etc.) and lead buyer audits.
  • Certifications: Maintain and improve ISO, OEKO-TEX, GOTS, RCS/GRS, ZDHC, and other sustainability certifications.
  • Technical QA: Oversee lab, bulk approval, shade continuity, fastness performance, and fabric hand feel (GSM, shrinkage, skew).
  • Convert buyer issues into system improvements and implement corrective actions.


Complex Troubleshooting & Knowledge Management


  • Personally lead troubleshooting for shade failures, process instability, and productivity loss.
  • RCA System: Mandatory Root Cause Analysis for buyer complaints and repeat failures.
  • Knowledge Bank: Maintain a "Factory Problem–Solution Knowledge Bank" and a "Do-Not-Repeat" Register.
  • Coordinate with R&D for new developments and bulk scalability.


Training & People Leadership


  • Lead department heads (Dyeing, Printing, Finishing, QA, PPC, Maintenance & Utilities) with accountability.
  • Train AGMs and Managers in troubleshooting and early-warning detection.
  • Build a high-performance team through training and KPI-based evaluation.
  • Ensure strong discipline, safety culture, and ethical practices on the shop floor.
