Position Overview

We are seeking a results-driven and experienced General Manager – Sales to lead and manage regional and international sales operations for a petrochemical manufacturing company. This role will oversee Business Development Managers (BDMs) and Sales Coordinators across the Africa, MENA, and GCC regions, ensuring strong market penetration, revenue growth, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in chemical manufacturing or distribution (solvents, lubricants, specialty chemicals, and raw materials), along with a strong track record in sales leadership, team development, and international business expansion. This role also requires hands-on involvement in export operations, client relationship management, and resolving commercial challenges.

Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage BDMs and Sales Coordinators across local and international markets.
  • Develop a high-performance sales culture through coaching, training, and continuous development.
  • Manage both in-office and remote teams, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Drive recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top sales talent.

2. Sales Strategy & Market Expansion

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to expand market share across Africa, MENA, and GCC.
  • Identify new business opportunities, end-users, and distribution channels.
  • Lead new product development initiatives aligned with market demand.
  • Strengthen brand presence through strategic partnerships and customer engagement.

3. Target Setting & Performance Management

  • Design and implement KPIs, sales targets, and commission structures.
  • Monitor individual and team performance against targets and market objectives.
  • Analyze sales data, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure consistent top-line growth and profitability.

4. Client Relationship & Business Development

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, distributors, and partners.
  • Lead negotiations and commercial discussions with major accounts.
  • Actively pursue new leads and expand the customer base across international markets.

5. Operations, Export & Issue Resolution

  • Oversee export sales operations, including shipment planning, documentation, and compliance.
  • Resolve issues related to shipment delays, payment collections, credit terms, and documentation discrepancies.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between sales, logistics, and finance teams.
  • Manage sample distribution and support trade show participation and follow-ups.

6. Reporting & CRM Management

  • Implement and manage CRM systems for pipeline tracking and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales activities, forecasts, and results.
  • Provide strategic insights and data-driven recommendations to senior management.

7. Administration & Coordination

  • Oversee administrative functions including travel planning, expense approvals, and operational budgets.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and compliance standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • MBA in Marketing or Master’s in International Business is preferred.
  • 5–10 years of UAE experience in sales leadership within chemical manufacturing or distribution.
  • Proven experience managing international and remote sales teams.
  • Strong exposure to export markets and specialty chemical trading.

  • Proficiency in CRM systems, MS Office, and sales analytics tools.

  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid UAE Driving License.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
