Job Title: General Practitioner – NICU

Department: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Location: Dubai, UAE
Reporting To: Consultant Neonatologist / Medical Director

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced General Practitioner (GP) – NICU to provide medical care and clinical support in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate must have hands-on NICU experience and the ability to manage neonatal cases under the supervision of a Consultant Neonatologist, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care and monitoring for neonates admitted to the NICU
  • Assist consultants in the management of premature, low birth weight, and critically ill neonates
  • Perform neonatal examinations, assessments, and documentation
  • Respond promptly to neonatal emergencies and assist in resuscitation
  • Monitor vitals, growth parameters, lab reports, and treatment plans
  • Prescribe medications and manage treatment as per hospital protocols

NICU Support & Coordination

  • Coordinate with nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and allied healthcare teams
  • Participate in daily rounds, case discussions, and handovers
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding the baby’s condition and care plan
  • Ensure infection control and patient safety standards are strictly followed

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in HIS/EMR
  • Follow DHA regulations, hospital policies, and clinical guidelines
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical meetings

Desired Candidate Profile

  • MBBS degree from a recognized medical university
  • Mandatory NICU experience (minimum 1–3 years preferred)
  • DHA eligibility or DHA license as General Practitioner
  • Valid BLS and NRP certification (ACLS preferred)
  • Strong clinical knowledge in neonatal care and emergency management

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in a Level II / Level III NICU
  • Exposure to ventilated neonates and critical neonatal care
  • Experience in UAE or GCC hospitals (added advantage)
