Job Summary

The Generator Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of standby and prime power generators. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on marine diesel generators.

· Conduct routine preventative maintenance including oil changes, coolant service, filter replacements, and load testing.

· Inspect and repair generator control panels, wiring, sensors, and electrical components.

· Service and maintain fuel systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems for marine generators.

· Perform onboard assessments on vessels to identify generator performance issues.

· Install and commission new marine generators and related electrical equipment.

· Conduct sea-trials and ensure generators operate safely under load.

· Maintain accurate service reports, logs, and documentation of all work performed.

· Ensure compliance with marine safety regulations and industry standards.

· Communicate effectively with boat owners, captains, and service managers regarding repairs and recommendations.

· Respond to emergency service calls and perform onboard repairs as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a generator, diesel, or industrial equipment technician.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, engines, and power generation equipment.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
