Geotechnical Engineer – Construction/Infrastructure

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical investigations including soil, rock, and groundwater studies for proposed construction sites.

  • Perform soil sampling, testing, and analysis to determine bearing capacity, settlement, and soil classification.

  • Prepare geotechnical design reports with recommendations for foundations, retaining walls, slopes, embankments, and pavements.

  • Carry out slope stability, seepage, and settlement analysis using specialized software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, etc.).

  • Provide technical input for the design of deep/shallow foundations, piles, ground improvement, and excavation support systems.

  • Supervise and monitor site investigations, borehole drilling, field testing (SPT, CPT, Plate Load Test, etc.).

  • Ensure compliance with local/international codes and standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS, Eurocode).

  • Liaise with structural engineers, project managers, and contractors to provide geotechnical solutions.

  • Troubleshoot geotechnical issues during construction and recommend remedial measures.

  • Maintain proper documentation and prepare geotechnical study reports, risk assessments, and recommendations.

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 4–7 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer in construction/infrastructure projects.

  • Strong background in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and ground improvement techniques.

  • Hands-on experience with geotechnical design software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Geo5, or equivalent).

  • Proven experience in geotechnical site investigations, laboratory testing, and field monitoring.

  • Exposure to projects involving high-rise buildings, bridges, roads, or heavy infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with geotechnical risk assessment and mitigation methods.

  • Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and provide site support during execution.

  • Strong knowledge of international and local geotechnical design codes.
