Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of the Project Management Office (PMO), the Global Director - Project Management - Logistics will play a crucial role in leading and driving international and complex projects for the logistics division. This role will lead the project management for the global portfolio of Freight Forwarding (FF) product and technology initiatives (e.g., NPM/QT within TiAB) from strategy through adoption, ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery and measurable business outcomes related to overall project management. The role aligns Global, Regional and Group Technology teams across ocean FCL/LCL, air, and VAS to standardize ways of working, harden master data/governance, and scale capabilities globally.

The role also chairs the Freight Forwarding Communities roadmap council, aligning Community Leads and Group Technology around a single JIRA-governed backlog and quarterly roadmap that prioritizes value, de-duplicates work, and drives on-time, high-quality releases and involves owning, managing and coordinating various projects to ensure successful delivery within scope, time, and budget constraints. This is a fast-paced environment and requires a structured thinker with relevant project management and freight forwarding experience to lead and drive key business stakeholders. technology and other partners.

This role will lead multi-region transformation programs with high ambiguity (cross-pillar, legal/compliance, cybersecurity), resolving novel problems at the intersection of FF operations and platform engineering.

Accountabilities:

Project Management:

Lead and drive project management and PMO taking both an execution and strategic position. Lead and drive large scale global strategic projects. Assist in the development and implementation of project management methodologies and best practices.

Roadmap Strategy & Communities of Practice:

Establish and run the FF Communities roadmap council (Ocean FCL/LCL, Air, VAS, Events & Milestones, Consolidation flows). Translate business strategy into an integrated quarterly roadmap; set Gate 0–2 acceptance criteria, BRD quality standards, dependency plans, and release calendars.

Strategic Alignment:

Collaborate with the SVP PMO and other key stakeholders to align project work with corporate strategy and objectives. Assist in prioritizing projects in line with strategic goals.

JIRA Governance & Portfolio Hygiene:

Own JIRA/Confluence standards for the FF portfolio (workflows, statuses, labels, DOR/DOD, dashboards). Drive backlog hygiene, sequencing and scope control; publish release notes and change impacts; operate with data-driven metrics (throughput, cycle time, burn-up, defect escape rate).

Stakeholder Communication:

Facilitate communication between the SVP PMO and project teams. Assist in disseminating project updates and key information to stakeholders.

Lead strong collaboration across the communities, global business, technology, etc. Orchestrate operating rhythms with Regions, Product/Engineering, Procurement/Pricing, Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Ops Excellence to ensure decisions are timely, documented, and executed.

Project Oversight:

Lead global projects, provide strong governance and structure.

Support the SVP PMO in overseeing the execution of international projects.

Monitor project progress, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.

Reporting and Analysis:

Own the reporting for projects across your portfolio. Assist in the preparation of project reports and analysis for senior leadership. Provide insights and recommendations based on project performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Facilitate coordination and communication across departments and regions.

Participate on the development of career path and training for the PMO community

Process Improvement:

Own the reporting for projects across your portfolio. Assist in the preparation of project reports and analysis for senior leadership. Provide insights and recommendations based on project performance.

Training and Development:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Facilitate coordination and communication across departments and regions.

Participate on the development of career path and training for the PMO community

Delivery & Risk Management:

Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project-related risks. Run plan-of-record, critical path, and Plan A/Plan B scenarios for major drops (e.g., CRv3.1/3.2). Proactively manage risks, issues, and cross-team dependencies; trigger timely mitigations and escalations. Work with project teams to develop risk mitigation plans and strategies.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure adherence to project management standards and quality assurance processes.

Assist in conducting project reviews and audits as needed.

Communications & Executive Reporting:

Provide clear, concise status to senior leadership; maintain a single source of truth (scorecards/OKRs), and prepare executive readouts for SteerCo’s/Boards as required.

Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree or Project Management certification (PMP) preferred.

  • 10–12+ years delivering large, multi-region product/technology programs with proven experience in project management roles, with a track record of successfully leading and delivering international and complex projects.

  • Proven experience (5 years) in Freight Forwarding.

  • Comfortable working in fast paced environment

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and best practices.

  • Hands-on expertise with JIRA or similar tools (incl. Advanced Roadmaps/Portfolio) and data-driven portfolio management.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify problems, analyze data, and develop solutions.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience in the logistics or transportation industry is desirable but not essential.
