Job Description

As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.

As the Global Marketing Planning & Investment Manager you will serve as a critical operational partner to Global Marketing, Finance and Accounting. This role is responsible for enabling global campaign execution by owning marketing planning infrastructure, campaign management systems and end-to-end marketing financial workflows for the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD).

This role is foundational to how Global Marketing operates, serving as a single-thread owner for critical planning, budget and operational processes. It ensures campaigns can execute effectively, budgets remain accurate, and leadership has confidence in marketing investment decisions. Highly cross-functional in nature, the role blends strategic thinking with deep operational ownership, financial rigor, systems stewardship, and stakeholder management.

The ideal candidate exercises strong judgement, is comfortable navigating complexity, and can translate seamlessly between marketing execution and financial accountability to keep the organization running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the global marketing planning process across business units and regions, ensuring alignment to business priorities, financial targets and campaign execution needs.
  • Serve as the owner and administrator of the global Campaign Management platform (Quickbase), including system architecture, workflow design, ongoing enhancements, vendor management and user support.
  • Own critical marketing financial operations, including monthly accruals, cross-charges, Division Office budgets, and expense accuracy in partnership with Finance and Accounting.
  • Support annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes by consolidating spend requests, aligning forecasts to finance targets and enabling executive approval of investments.
  • Provide visibility into campaign progress, spend and performance through accurate data management, dashboards, and reporting in collaboration with analytics teams.
  • Translate leadership investment decisions into approved, executable marketing plans and tactics across global teams.
  • Act as a highly cross-functional partner to Global Marketing, Division Offices, Finance, Accounting, and Commercial Operations, serving as a trusted point of coordination and escalation.
  • Continuously improve processes by identifying automation opportunities, reducing manual work, documenting critical workflows and proactively managing financial, operational and system risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in marketing operations, marketing finance, business operations or a related role within a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Experience supporting global teams and managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong financial acumen, including hands-on experience with budgets, forecasting, accruals, cost centers, and financial controls.
  • Proven ability to own mission-critical operational processes and manage high-volume, detail-oriented workflows with firm deadlines.
  • Strong systems mindset with experience administering and improving marketing, workflow or financial platforms (Quickbase or similar preferred).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate between marketing execution and financial requirements.
