Major Duties
Work involves troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, overhauling major components and systems for equipment used to maintain golf course. Current equipment being used includes but is not limited to Toro Reel and Groundsmaster mowers, John Deere ZTrak mower, John Deere Front End Loader, aeration machines, utility vehicles, golf carts, 200 gal. Jacobsen sprayer, backpack blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and other small engine powered equipment used to maintain golf course grounds. Work will be performed on gas and diesel engines, transmissions, differentials and transaxles, fuel systems and related electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and fuel powered equipment. Will be required to sharpen the reel mower blades, bedknives, and backlapping, which requires precision and attention to detail.
Adjusts, repairs, reassembles, and run operational checks on components of equipment systems following instructions contained in technical manuals. Performs minor tune-up service. Isolates and repairs complex malfunctions which are often difficult to trace by a combination of visual and auditory examinations. Will perform equipment checks and repairs out on golf course.
Overhaul suspension and steering mechanisms, repack and/or replace wheel bearings, replace tie rods and/or tie rod ends, adjust as necessary steering geometry with the use of technical equipment to bring front wheels into proper alignment according to manufacturer specifications. Inspects and repairs brake systems, troubleshoots/repairs/or replaces batteries on various landscaping and utility vehicles. Checks charging systems, remove and replace alternators and starters. Disassemble, repair, replace, recondition and rebuild components of various systems and make independent judgments based on accepted trade practices.
Mounts and rotates tires and wheels to prevent excessive wear. Uses a wide variety of test equipment such as analyzers, compression testers, meters, special feeler and dial gauges. Maintains a proper toolbox required in the performance of the job. Maintains service records and develops a maintenance plan with prioritization of repairs. Explains repair requirements to supervisor and corrective action for problems encountered. Notifies supervisor when repair or replacement of furnished tools are required.
Ensures compliance with all fire, safety, environmental, and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations. May be required to assist in periodic inventory. Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner. May be required to operate vehicles to test repair and move around facility.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Qualifications
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of techniques for troubleshooting, removing, replacing, cleaning, repairing and installing a variety of parts, components and accessories. Skill to interpret and apply manufacturers repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, diagnostic codes, computer printouts and safety manuals. Ability to troubleshoot and replace standard electronic components of systems. Skill in the use of hand/power tools and electronic test equipment. A valid drivers¿ license is required.
RESPONSIBILITY: Work is performed independently based on personal knowledge, judgments and decisions within framework of oral and written instructions and accepted trade practices. Completes repairs with little or no check during progress or upon completion.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is often performed in tiring, awkward and uncomfortable positions. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and crawling. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.
WORKING CONDITION: Work may be performed inside or outside with exposure to varying weather. May be exposed to drafts, noise, fumes, dirt, dust, grease and vehicle fluids that can irritate skin. Must wear protective equipment. May come in contact with and be required to handle hazardous material/substances.
