About the role

Data Ikseer is hiring a hands-on Google Apps Script and VBA Developer to build tools, automate workflows, and ship reliable Apps Script web apps across Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Forms, Gmail, Drive, Calendar). You’ll own projects end-to-end—scoping, development, design and development, testing, deployment, documentation, and light training—working directly with operations and business stakeholders.

What you’ll do (Job Duties)

• Design & develop Apps Script & VBA solutions: custom menus, sidebars, add-ons, triggers (time-driven/installable), and HTMLService web apps with clean UIs.
• Automate workflows across Workspace; build robust pipelines, approvals, and document generation (Docs/Slides/Gmail). (Power Apps is a plus)
• Integrate external APIs (REST/JSON) via UrlFetchApp and Advanced Services (Sheets/Drive/Gmail/Admin Directory/SharePoint, etc); handle OAuth2, pagination, rate limits, retries, and error handling.
• Optimize performance with batch reads/writes, caching (CacheService), configuration via PropertiesService, and careful quota management.
• Ship secure solutions: least-privilege scopes, protected ranges, audit trails/logging, and safe handling of PII.
• Version control & CI using clasp and Git; structure code for reuse (libraries/modules), add linting and basic test coverage.
• Monitor & support: Cloud Logging, alerts, fail-safes; uphold SLAs for critical automations.
• Document & train: write user guides/runbooks; deliver short handovers to non-technical teams.
• VBA responsibilities (Excel): build/maintain macros for reporting, PDF export, data cleaning/reshaping, workbook structuring, printing/formatting, image handling, and cross-sheet consolidation; align with GAS workflows when useful.
• Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, estimate, prioritize, and deliver incremental value.

Must-have requirements

• Google Apps Script: 2–5+ years building production solutions (triggers, web apps, add-ons, Advanced Services).
• Data connections (required): Experience connecting Apps Script to Looker Studio sources or building light ETL between Sheets and databases (read/write, batching, scheduling, transforms).
• Python (working proficiency): scripting for ETL, data processing, file ops, and simple REST integrations.
• Spreadsheet expertise: strong formulas & functions in Google Sheets and Excel (lookups, array formulas, regex, date/time, dynamic ranges).
• VBA (required): design clean, maintainable macros with solid error handling and performance.
• JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals; HTML/CSS/vanilla JS for HTMLService UIs.
• An eye for design, UI/UX is fundamental.
• Problem solver: structured debugging, clear trade-offs, pragmatic solutions under constraints.
• Self-direction: own projects end-to-end with minimal supervision; proactive communication.

Nice to have

• Google Cloud (Cloud Run/Functions, Firestore/BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Scheduler) and service accounts.
• Zapier/Make integrations; Docs/Slides templating & mail-merge; PDF generation.
• Testing setups, ESLint/Prettier, CI pipelines for clasp projects.
• Security awareness: OAuth, scope reviews, PII handling, access governance.
• Power Apps
• Eager to learn more tools and expand the automation stack.

Workplace, schedule & probation

• Onsite at our Karachi office, Saddar.
• Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (includes a 1-hour lunch break), six days a week.
• Probation: 6 months only.
