HOW YOU'LL HELP US KEEP CLIMBING (OVERVIEW & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

The Delta sustainability team believes that setting a bold vision and accelerating our work to deliver sustainable travel experiences and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 isn't only good for our planet, it's a business imperative for Delta's long-term success.

The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Graduate Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in sustainability by working cross-functionally on projects related to advocating with local, state and federal policymakers for the needed incentives to increase SAF production in the U.S. The intern may also work on projects related to innovation and collaboration in pursuit of a more sustainable future.

The Sustainability Intern will work on-site at Delta's World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.

Primary Functions:
  • Support efforts related to execution of Delta’s Sustainability strategy, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) strategy, and emissions calculations
  • Assist with implementation of new SAF and emissions management initiatives and the development of educational and outreach materials
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to SAF, emissions, and other sustainability trends
  • Prepare and present reports on SAF or emissions initiatives, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders and management
  • Act as an advocate for sustainability, raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices both internally and externally

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Currently enrolled in a master’s program at an accredited institution, preferably with a focus on sustainability or business
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Able to commit to the duration of the internship timeline: June through August
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces a diverse set of people, thinking and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Academic background or experience in climate action, data science, environmental studies and/or sustainability
  • Professional background in related field, such as management consulting, audit, or roles with analytical, sustainability, or strategy focuses
  • Passion for sustainability and a commitment to promoting environmentally responsible practices
