Lead Learning Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Learning & Development Lead to drive the design and implementation of enterprise-wide learning initiatives. Serving as the primary representative of Learning & Development (L&D) within organizational projects, this role will consult with subject matter experts, guide instructional designers, and ensure training solutions effectively address performance gaps, business needs, and compliance requirements. A strong emphasis will be placed on integrating organizational change management (OCM) practices to support adoption, engagement, and long-term effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Serve as the lead learning representative on organizational-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects.
  • Drive end-to-end project management for learning deliverables, from scoping to launch and evaluation.
  • Partner with senior leadership and stakeholders to align learning strategies with business goals.

Consultation & Collaboration

  • Act as the primary consultant with subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify training needs, extract content, and ensure technical accuracy.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, HR, and compliance teams to anticipate and address learning gaps.
  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions to recommend optimal learning solutions (ILT, eLearning, blended, microlearning, performance support).
  • Collaborate with project leadership to reinforce accountability for the effective implementation organizational change management actions.

  • Partner with internal teams to ensure the establishment, adoption, and adherence to defined policies and procedures, recognizing their critical impact on the consistency, compliance, and effectiveness of learning content.

Guidance & Oversight

  • Provide direction, coaching, and quality assurance for L&D Specialists and Instructional Designers, ensuring adherence to adult learning principles, instructional design standards, and organizational guidelines.
  • Oversee the development of training content, ensuring relevance, consistency, and scalability.
  • Ensure that learning solutions are learner-centric, measurable, and business-impact driven.

Content & Needs Analysis

  • Conduct needs assessments and gap analyses to design targeted learning strategies.
  • Translate business requirements into effective learning interventions that improve employee capability and performance.
  • Ability to design and implement blended solutions that address both knowledge transfer and behavior adoption.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices, tools, and innovations in learning design.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Define successful metrics for learning initiatives and measure effectiveness through evaluation models.
  • Continuously improve learning content based on feedback, performance data, and regulatory changes.
  • Champion innovation in learning technology, delivery methods, and engagement strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in Learning & Development, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership, senior specialist, or project lead role.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects, act as the primary L&D representative, and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong background in instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, Agile Learning Design, etc.).
  • Ability to mentor and support L&D colleagues in both content development, facilitation and project management.
  • Expertise in working with SMEs and coaching L&D professionals.
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms and eLearning authoring tools (Articulate 360 including Reach, Rise and Storyline, SnagIt, Photoshop, Microsoft Product Suite, Camtasia, Adobe Product Suite including Captivate, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and consulting skills.
