Halff has an open position for an entry-level (0-2 years of experience) Environmental Scientist (Natural Resources) at our Houston, TX location. New graduates will be considered. Our team of environmental scientists offers expertise in natural resources impact analyses and permitting, as well as environmental due diligence investigations for a wide variety of clients and locations. The appropriately qualified applicant will need to demonstrate a willingness to join an established team of professionals and contribute to the success of that team. What you will do:

This position will assist with the collection and preparation of information as it pertains to local, state, and federal regulations of natural resources (e.g., Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act). There will be an emphasis on field work, GIS, and reporting as it pertains to environmental constraints mapping, waters of the U.S. and wetland delineations, and threatened and endangered species impact and habitat assessments, while supporting all Halff offices. Additional work includes plant/wildlife surveys, tree surveys, stream assessments, and other ecological evaluations related to aquatic biology and botany. The qualified applicant must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and be capable of strenuous field work, at times.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in biology, natural resources management, or related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Provide support to multi-disciplinary teams in delivering solutions to clients
  • Excellent research, analytical, and written and oral communication skills, with experience communicating with the public
  • Positive attitude, initiative, and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS and ArcGIS Pro and GPS technology, preferred
  • Proficiency with CADD is a plus
